Ancestral Visit
You have traced your family and are now coming to Scotland. Let
us help plan your trip to your ancestral home. We can,
prior to your journey, visit the home or gravestone of your
ancestor and see what is there to visit. That way, when you come
to Scotland you will know exactly where to go and what you will
see. Time is normally an issue, so you don't want to spend a
day looking for something that isn't there.
We find that our clients are always
on a tight schedule! If we can make things
easier for you we are delighted to do so. We can arrange to meet
you to discuss your research when you arrive and give you as
much advice as possible to set you on your ancestral trail. We can also meet up with you in Edinburgh and accompany
you to New Register House to continue your research.
Research and Monumental Inscriptions
Let us know what research you wish undertaken and we can give
an estimate. We also have access to a large amount of monumental
inscriptions for Fife and a good amount of information and inscriptions
for Wigtownshire. Other Monumental Inscriptions can be looked up
in Edinburgh when I visit.
Photography
If you cannot manage
to visit, then our photographic service is the next best thing.
The
following are some of the photos that we take for you:
-
The
house that your ancestors were born/lived in.
-
The
village/town where their house was situated.
-
The
school they attended.
-
The
Church they were married in.
-
The
gravestone marking where they were buried and if possible a
transcription.
There
is of course no guarantee that all of the above will still be there but we
will certainly do our best to get as many photos as we can. Just send us as many details as possible of the area you want photographed.
We
will send you a
series of images onto CD which you will be able to print out. If you
would like some of the images on DVD we can do this or we can have them printed and mounted in a
variety of sizes.
We
will provide you with some written detail of the where the photographs
were taken and what we found there.
