Ancestral Visit
You have traced your family and are now coming to Scotland. Let
us help plan your trip to your ancestral home. We can,
prior to your journey, visit the home or gravestone of your
ancestor and see what is there to visit. That way, when you come
to Scotland you will know exactly where to go and what you will
see. Time is normally an issue, so you don't want to spend a
day looking for something that isn't there.
We find that our clients are always
on a tight schedule! If we can make things
easier for you we are delighted to do so. We can arrange to meet
you to discuss your research when you arrive and give you as
much advice as possible to set you on your ancestral trail. We can also meet up with you in Edinburgh and accompany
you to New Register House to continue your research. Our price is
£20 per hour. Let us know what you want and
we can give you an estimate.
If you can't visit then let us take some photos of your
ancestor's home or grave and send them to you by email or on CD.
Research
With
the increasing amount of information on-line, eg OPRs, census
records, wills etc, the main research we do is actually with more modern records
which you can't access. For example
births after 1907, marriages
after 1932 and deaths after 1956.
However, let us know what research you wish undertaken and we can give
an estimate. We also have access to a large amount of monumental
inscriptions, in particular for Wigtownshire

The
easiest way to pay is by credit card using Pay Pal. Costs can also be paid by sterling cheque, or by foreign currency
cheque, but for the latter add £6 to cover bank charges - cheques to be made
payable to - Frances Black (Scottish Ancestor) - and should be
